Why don't I hear a Caller ID announcement?
Check the volume setting of the unit. Do not assume that the volume is "on" because you hear the unit on review.

The batteries are weak or dead. Replace the batteries with fresh AAA alkaline batteries. Heavy duty batteries are not long lasting batteries.

Check for proper services. Does the Caller ID information appear on any other Caller ID enabled devices in the home?
Why does my Caller ID only announce part of a telephone number?

My Caller ID will not say anything.
If you get no audible response from the unit when you press the large "Review" button then you do not have power to the unit.

Check or replace the batteries.

Clean the battery contacts on the Caller ID with a pencil eraser.

Roll the batteries in the battery compartment with your thumb while alternately pressing the "Review" key until the batteries make good contact.

Purchase an optional 6VDC or 7.5VDC power adapter to use instead of batteries.
My Caller ID is not identifying incoming calls.
Verify proper services are being supplied by your telephone provider.

The VA500 is not designed to be used in a 2-line system. If you have two telephone numbers in the same residence, specialwiring design may be required. Consult your telephone repair technician.

The VA500 is not designed to work with a digital telephone "system", i.e. business system. This device should work properly with commonly available digital telephone "services" such as what may be provided by a cable TV company, or with standard analog telephone service.

Do you have DSL Internet service installed in the home? Insufficient filtering of the DSL signal may interfere with the caller ID data. You may need to upgrade your DSL filter.
My Caller ID will not announce the name of the incoming caller.
The VA500 is not designed to announce names, only the 10-digit telephone number, or "Number Blocked"/"Number Unknown".
