Why don't I hear a Caller ID announcement?
Check the volume setting of the unit. Do not assume that the volume is "on" because you hear the unit on review. Refer to your User's Guide which was supplied with this unit or download the correct guide from ClassCo's support website for instructions on setting the volume level.

Check for proper services. Does the caller ID information appear on the display of this unit or any other caller ID enabled devices in the home?

My Caller ID isn't detecting calls when I'm online.

You must subscribe to Call Waiting service from your local telephone company.  Call your telephone company to subscribe to Call Waiting.  It may take a few days for the service to be activated.

Call Waiting is disabled by my ISP's software.
For Windows XP: Click on Start, Click on Control Panel, Click on Phone and Modem Options (or, with category view, click on Network and Internet Connections, and under See Also, click Phone and Modem Options, Under the Dialing rules tab, click Edit,UNCHECK the box marked To disable call waiting, dial [*70]. Click OKAY and exit.

For Windows 2000: Click on Start, Under Settings, click on Control Panel Click on Network and Dial-up connections, Click on My Connection, Click on Properties, Put a check in the Use Dialing Rules box and click on Rules, Highlight My Location and click on Edit, UNCHECK the box marked To disable call waiting, dial [*70]. Click OKAY and exit.

For Windows ME:Click on Start, Under Settings, click on Control Panel, Click on Modems, Under the Dialing Properties UNCHECK the box marked To disable call waiting, dial [*70]. Click OKAY and exit.

For Windows 98:Click on My Computer, click on Control Panel, Click on Modems, Under the Dialing Properties UNCHECK the box marked To disable call waiting, dial [*70]. Click OKAY and exit.

MSN Internet Access Dialer Configuration: On the Sign-on screen, click Connection Settings Under your HOME location, select Make changes to this location. Then click NEXT, then NEXT again Delete the *70 in the box labeled Disable call waiting while I'm online, using this code [*70] Click NEXT two more times and exit.

AOL Internet Access Dialer Configuration: From the SETUP screen, click EDIT NUMBERS. In the Edit Location window, highlight each access number, then click the Edit. In the Edit Number window, select the Dial [*70,] to disable call waiting check box and UNCHECK the box, then click OK. Click OKAY and exit.

JUNO Internet Access Dialer Configuration: On the Juno logon screen, click Edit List, then click NEXT, and NEXT again On the Dialing Preferences window, UNCHECK the box labeled To disable call waiting, dial [*70]. Verify that none of the access numbers shown have a *70 in them, then click Click NEXT and exit.
No characters are visible on the display.
Check that the power adapter is plugged into a live outlet. Move the adapter to a different outlet to verify.

Check that the power adapter is firmly connected to the Caller ID unit.

Verify that you are using ONLY the power adapter that was supplied with the unit.
My Caller ID is not identifying incoming calls.
Verify proper services are being supplied by your telephone service provider.

The it5000 is not designed to be used in a 2-line system. If you have two telephone numbers in the same residence, special wiring design may be required. Consult your telephone repair technician.

The it5000 is not designed to work with a digital telephone "system", i.e. business system. This device should work properly with commonly available digital telephone "services" such as what may be provided by a cable TV company, or with standard analog telephone service.

Do you have DSL Internet service installed in the home? Insufficient filtering of the DSL signal may interfere with the Caller ID data. You may need to upgrade your DSL filter.
My Caller ID is not displaying or announcing calls.

Check that you are using the AC adapter that came with the unit. It should say "CLASSCO". If you are using batteries (applies to some models), make sure they are fresh alkaline batteries.

Be sure you have subscribed to Caller ID service from your local telephone company. You should see this on your telephone bill.

Be sure the AC adapter is plugged in. Be sure the power outlet is not "switched" off.

Make sure the telephone line from the wall jack is connected to the jack on the back of the unit marked "LINE" (this is the jack on the left when looking at the unit from the back.)

Unit must be installed on an analog telephone line, and will not work on ISDN or digital/proprietary telephone system extensions.

I am hearing modem tones when answering a call.
Check the installation.  Make sure the telephone cord from the wall jack is connected to the jack marked LINE on the back of the unit.  Make sure the telephone cord from your computer modem is connected to the jack marked MODEM on the back of the unit.  Make sure your telephone is plugged into the jack marked PHONE on the unit.  Although the unit will detect calls if the telephone is not connected to the unit, you will only be able to answer calls on the telephone connected to the unit..
The red LED light is on/blinking.
The LED will stay on solid to indicate the line is in use.

The LED blinks to indicate un-reviewed calls in the call log. Review all calls in the call log.

The LED blinks to indicate the presence of voice mail. Review all new voice mails.

Unplug the power adapter for 5 minutes. Once power is restored the LED should not resume blinking unless one of the above conditions is present.
The Caller ID beeps.
The unit will beep every few seconds to indicate that a new voice mail has been received. Review all new voice mails or deactivate the MSG-BEEP feature in the special features menu.
